Fifteen cents a day may sound like a small amount but to a destitute widow it can provide food for her family. It can provide an alternative to begging for a leper. For the elderly with no family support, that same fifteen cents can prevent gradual starvation. To an illiterate, exploited woman caring for a disabled child, it may allow her more time to meet her child's special needs.
Asian Aid provides $4.00 per month to over 1,000 destitute people in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Without this, some of those we help would not survive! Many would be uncertain even of their next meal, haunted daily by malnutrition and hunger.
In Isaiah 1:17 God says, "Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow." Recipients of Hungry Money receive just 100 Rupees and this is barely enough for one meager meal each day. But it is a heaven sent blessing. In past years Hungry Money recipients have also received a blanket or sheet and a simple article of clothing.
Hungry Money Funds are used to provide destitute people living in India, Bangladesh and Nepal with one meal a day, along with a blanket or some clothing. Four dollars from Asian Aid will provide food for one person for one month. Without this small amount of assistance, some would not survive.
Requests for Hungry money come in by the hundreds and we wish we could help all who ask. However, we take great care to choose only the most needy. They must have no other means of support, and undergo careful screening.
We would like to encourage you to collect loose change week by week to support Hungry Money
