Asian Aid makes orphan children a priority despite the high cost of caring for them in a boarding facility and school. We support three orphanages in India, and a further two in Nepal that serve over 500 children aged between 3 and 18. We even sponsor some who have graduated from high school and are now studying at a university.
We believe that all our orphans have been brought to us to love and parent, so we take this responsibility very seriously. At Sunshine orphanage we have guestrooms so that our grownup children know they have a place to return when needed. In recent years we have proudly celebrated graduations from universities with young people who would otherwise have struggled just to meet their daily needs. Some of our sponsors have developed such close ties that they have flown to India to participate in the wedding ceremonies of their special orphan.
Not all our children are total orphans who have no living relatives. Some have a surviving parent who is unable to care for them, or is in jail. Some have relatives who might accept the child but use them as servants or child labor. Girls especially are often unwanted unless they are at an age where their work is productive. All children placed in our care are very needy and are carefully screened to make sure that entering our orphanage is the best option for them.
A number of the orphanages we support are completely financed through the generosity of sponsors and donors. Without their generous, faithful support this part of our ministry could not have survived. It is our prayer that we will continue to receive the funding needed to house, feed, parent and educate orphaned children in a Christian school where they will experience the love of God in a practical way.
All donations are tax deductible.
